Sponsored by Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White and the Illinois State Library, "Try-it! Illinois" offers Illinois library users the opportunity to explore and evaluate a wide variety of electronic resources for free from October 1 through November 30, 2013. Many of these databases are of special interest to genealogists, such as: Digital Sanborn Maps, Historic Document Series, Historic Map Works, Historical Chicago Defender (1909-1975), Historical New York Times (1851-2009), Newspaper Archive - ProQuest and NewspaperArchive.com.
