COVID-19 Response

Current Service Updates

Helen Plum Library follows all state and local guidelines to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and help keep our community and staff safe. The following measures are being taken: 

The library building is open for most in-person services. We’ve added additional seating and increased computer access. Patrons can also pick up holds, access computers, visit our service desks for quick reference and reader’s advisory services, access the self-serve copy machine located at the front of the building, browse, and check out materials. 

Masks are optional for fully vaccinated Library visitors.

More will become available as we’re able to safely reintroduce services and spaces.

Service Information

Library Cards (Renewing and Applying)

Library cards are being issued and renewed remotely and in-person for residents and businesses. A library card is available to anyone who lives within the Helen Plum Library District. To apply for a new card or renew your expired card, click here

Computer Use, Faxing, and Scanning

Limited computers are available for one 60-minute session per day, no appointment is needed. Printing, faxing, and scanning are also available.

How to Get Library Materials

Plum Pickup Service

Use Plum Pickup service to set up an appointment for “ready for pickup” holds to be checked out, bagged and ready to grab and go. To find out more about Plum Pickup, click here.

Home Delivery

Lombard residents of any age confined to their home, either permanently or temporarily, may receive Home Delivery services. Click here to request Home Delivery.

Returning Library Materials

The Library’s outdoor book drops are open; Patrons may also deposit returns in the book bins in the front lobby. Please do not hand materials directly to staff. Overdue fines will continue to be waived during this time.
