Reduce fines and help the community!

Fines happen. Whether it's a book that slid under the sofa or a video game that never made it back into the case, many of us owe a dollar or two (or more!) to the Library.

Food for fines April 9–15

Regardless of how your fines happened, Helen Plum Library is offering Food for Fines during National Library Week, Sunday, April 9 through Saturday, April 15. During this time, patrons may pay overdue fines by donating items in demand by the Lombard/Villa Park Food Pantry.

Shelf-stable foods such as canned fruits, vegetables, canned or bagged beans, rice, cereals, baby food, formula, and vegetarian items will be accepted as donations. Unfortunately, we cannot accept home-canned items, opened foods, or foods past their expiration dates. Click here for a complete list of needed items.

Every canned good or non-perishable food item will reduce your existing fines by one dollar. (Donations cannot be used toward incurred fees.)

No fines? But still want to get involved? No problem! All patrons are welcome to drop off donations. Just remember that all donations must be received through the Circulation Desk.
