Meeting Schedules

Regular Board meetings for the calendar years 2025 and 2026 will be held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7pm at the Library. Note that, for the regular Board meeting in March 2026, the meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, as the third Tuesday in March falls on the date of the General Primary Election. Information on our 2025–2026 board meetings can be found in Ordinance 2024-2025-006 and Ordinance 2025-2026-011.

Board of Trustees’ Land Acknowledgement Statement 

The Helen Plum Library Board of Trustees unanimously acknowledges that many indigenous groups once lived on the land where the Library now resides. The Library invites all to learn their histories, cultures, and peoples. The Library Board encourages our neighbors to explore learning opportunities through local, Indigenous-based organizations such as Midwest SOARRING Foundation.

About the Board

What is involved in being a trustee?

The Library Board of Trustees is composed of seven residents of the Library District who are registered voters. They are elected in staggered 4-year terms. The Board meets once a month at the library, on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, at 7pm.

Routine duties:

  • Vote to approve the financial report and payment of bills
  • Approve the annual budget
  • Vote on questions of policy
  • Evaluate the Director on an annual basis

The Board has three standing advisory committees:

  • Audit Committee: Kelly Simms (chair), Kristin Aasmundstad Walsh, Bijal Patel
  • Director Relations Committee: Ginger Kearney (chair), Bijal Patel, Sue Wiggins
  • Policy & Bylaws Committee: Julie Kowalski-Schmidt (chair), Ginger Kearney, Kelly Simms
