Human Resources Generalist

Helen Plum Library is seeking a detail‑oriented and people‑focused Human Resources Generalist to support the day‑to‑day human resources operations of a collaborative and community-focused workplace. This role plays a key part in recruitment, onboarding, payroll and benefits support, employee relations, and compliance, helping ensure a positive and supportive workplace for all staff. The ideal candidate is organized, approachable, and committed to supporting employees while advancing the Library’s mission and values. 

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions) 

  • Coordinate core HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding and offboarding, and personnel records 

  • Support payroll, benefits administration, and employee leave tracking. 

  • Serve as a resource for staff and managers regarding HR policies and procedures 

  • Maintain accurate records and support compliance with employment laws and Library policies 

  • Assist with HR projects, performance review coordination, and process improvements

Qualifications 

  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred 

  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, payroll, or benefits administration, preferably in a public sector, municipal, or library environment 

Schedule 

  • Full-time 

  • 37.5 hours per week 

  • Monday-Friday; occasional evening or weekend hours as required 

Salary Range 

  • $62,631-$78,289 

  • $78,289 is the midpoint of the pay grade. Starting at or above the midpoint is reserved for candidates who exceed the minimum qualifications and have significant relevant experience.
