About the Artist
Dan Pollack was born and raised in Lombard. Some may know him as an IT Director for the University of Illinois at Chicago, a genealogist, a rockhound, a musician, or a woodworker. But if you ask Dan, being a photographer is his identity and his lifelong passion. Dan began photographing in 1983, and in 1985 launched a successful commercial photography studio; clients have included numerous Fortune 500 companies. As a member of the American Society of Magazine Photographers (ASMP), Dan has had stock photography chosen for advertising campaigns worldwide. In 1998, Dan narrowed his focus to the subject matter that he loves most: landscapes and wildlife. Since then, Dan has been a photography instructor at the Morton Arboretum and has taught courses and private workshops. Most recently, Dan presented a program for the Morton Arboretum Photographic Society entitled, “Stillness and Story: Art in the Winter Landscape.” Dan currently resides in St. Charles with his wife Sheryl.
