About the artists
Dixie Lee Hadley was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised her family in Wheaton, Illinois before retiring to Necedah, Wisconsin with her husband Donald. Although she identifies as a self-taught artist, Dixie’s love of art extended to teaching, where she made a lasting mark as a volunteer art instructor. Her journey has been one of giving back, fostering creativity in others, while continuously refining her own style. Though Dixie Lee has spent her life encouraging new artists, at 93 she continues to create beautiful pieces and sees art as a vital force in society. Dixie Lee is a member of the DuPage Art League and is currently showing at Oh Arts Gallery in Mauston, Wisconsin.
Darlene “Weeze” Edwards is a mixed media artist who specializes in abstract, landscape, textured, and functional art. Born in Wheaton, Illinois, she has always been drawn to the creative arts and has been honing her skills as an artist since she was a young child. With a passion for exploring new techniques and materials, Weeze creates art that is not only visually stunning but also thought-provoking and emotionally engaging.
Her abstract pieces are inspired by the natural world and the colors and textures she finds within it. With a strong emphasis on texture and layering, her abstract works are rich in depth and complexity, drawing the viewer into her imaginative world.
With a style that is constantly evolving and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of her medium, Weeze is an artist who is always seeking to challenge herself and her viewers. Her work has been shown in several local galleries, and she has received numerous accolades for her innovative and thought-provoking pieces. She is a Board member for the DuPage Art League and a member of the Chicago Art Group.
