Youth Services Library Associate I (20 Hrs)

Helen Plum Library is seeking an enthusiastic and professional Youth Services Library Associate I to join our Youth Services team. The successful candidate will excel in team environments, love working with children and teens, enjoy helping children and teens find information, and be excited to engage with the Lombard community in our lively building.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

• Providing reference and reader’s advisory services for children, teens, caregivers, and educators
• Supports facilitation of play experiences in the Youth Department, including helping maintain a safe, hospitable, accessible, and aesthetically pleasing play spaces
• Supporting and assisting with programs and initiatives for children, teens, caregivers, and educators
• Supports YS Collection Management duties
• Coordinates Volunteen projects when assigned

Qualifications:

• Dedication to outstanding customer service
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Previous experience with youth and teens in a public library setting, preferred
• Knowledge of children and teen literature preferred
• Bachelor’s Degree, LTA, or relevant experience

Hours: 20 hours/week; including at least one night a week, every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday), and occasional Friday night rotation

Beginning salary: $17.69-$22.12 per hour, depending on qualifications.

$22.12 is the midpoint of the pay grade. Starting at or above the midpoint is reserved for candidates who exceed the minimum qualifications and have significant relevant experience.
